In our family, we watch an old video about Martin Luther (which is watched only once a year) and discuss the theology and various events and consequences of this brave man. This year, Jo and I looked for some German recipes for tonight's dinner.
Here are some suggestions you could do with your family:
- Read Martin Luther's 95 theses. If you can't read Latin or German, here is a site with an English translation ;-) http://www.spurgeon.org/~phil/history/95theses.htm
- Find some German foods to eat with dinner
- Read about Martin Luther or one of the many other Protestant Reformers such as John Wycliffe or John Huss
- Find some of the writings of the Reformers and discuss them.

It sounds like a great tradition! It would be good to pick german dishes and maybe each year you could pick a german dessert.
Did you know that Martin Luther's wife Catherine made beer? (not that I am saying we should try our hand at it!) :o)
Thanks for your suggestions!
